Tour to the only nuclear missile base museum in the world gives you such an opportunity. The museum of the Strategic Missile Troops was opened in 2001 near Ukrainian city of Pervomaysk. A real military base (the 309th Regiment the 46th Division the 43rd Missile Army Strategic Missile Forces of the USSR) was retired and turned into a museum. It’s completely equipped as if it is in use.
In 3 hour tour you have a great chance to visit a control center, an underground tunnel and a silo, see rockets, famous missiles R-12, soviet missile SS-18 and walk in the shoes of soviet soldier descended into the forty-meter silo of the command post, sit at the control panel and launch a nuclear rocket. Visit to missile base together with the early warning systems “Duga-1” of “Chernobyl-2”is real immersion into the Cold War atmosphere.
